The CSG Top-Up grant was created to help orphaned children’s relatives meet their basic needs. The goal is to keep them in their extended family’s environment while also keeping them in their familiar homes.
The South African Social Security Agency is abbreviated as SASSA (SASSA). It is the South African government agency in charge of social security services, including payments. It also oversees and administers grants and allowances for people who are poor and in need of government assistance to improve their living conditions.

Benefits of SASSA Child Support CSG Top-Up grant:
a. These children will receive their basic CSG of R480, plus an additional amount of R240, bringing the total to R720.
SASSA Child Support CSG Top-Up grant Qualifications:
To qualify, applicants must prove that a child is an orphan by providing:
1) certified copies of the child’s parents’ death certificates or
2) If the applicant is unable to obtain one of the parents’ death certificates, a certified copy of one parent’s death certificate plus an affidavit from the applicant attesting to the child’s other parent’s unknown status.
